Kurzweil :: NEW K2061 & K2088

Kurzweil has unveiled the K20 Series, introducing two groundbreaking synthesizers: the K2061 and the K2088. These instruments are a modern reimagining of the iconic K2000 V.A.S.T. synthesizer, blending classic design with contemporary technology to meet the demands of today’s musicians.

Dynamic V.A.S.T. Synthesis
At the heart of both models lies Kurzweil’s Dynamic Variable Architecture Synthesis Technology (V.A.S.T.), now enhanced to support up to 32 layers per program. This advancement offers musicians unparalleled depth and flexibility in sound design, enabling the creation of intricate and evolving textures. The synthesis engine incorporates customizable algorithms and supports multiple synthesis methods, including:

* Sample Playback: Utilize a comprehensive library of high-quality samples.

* Virtual Analog (VA): Generate rich and warm analog-style tones.

* Frequency Modulation (FM): Craft complex harmonic structures.

* KB3 ToneReal™ Organs: Emulate classic tonewheel organs with precision.

Sound Library and Memory
Both the K2061 and K2088 come equipped with 2 GB of factory sounds, encompassing over 2,000 programs and 500 multis. This extensive collection includes updated versions of sounds from legendary Kurzweil instruments like the K2000, K2500, and K2600, as well as selections from the K2700, Forte, PC4, PC3, and SP6. Additionally, musicians have access to 2 GB of user sample memory, allowing for the integration of custom samples and compatibility with a wide range of Kurzweil’s historical sound libraries.

Performance and Control
Designed with the performer in mind, the K20 Series offers robust features:
* Polyphony: Both models provide 256 voices, ensuring seamless performance even in complex compositions.
* MIDI Control: Each synthesizer supports 16-zone MIDI control, granting extensive versatility for live setups and studio environments.
* Physical Controllers: With over 30 physical controllers per zone, including an integrated ribbon controller, musicians can achieve nuanced expression and real-time manipulation of parameters.
Design and Build
The K2061 and K2088 feature a modern industrial design with aluminum and steel enclosures, ensuring durability and a premium aesthetic. The K2061 is equipped with a 61-note synth-action keyboard, while the K2088 boasts an 88-key fully-weighted hammer-action keyboard, both with aftertouch capabilities to enhance expressive play.

Additional Features
To further expand creative possibilities, both models include:
* Arpeggiators: 16 programmable arpeggiators per multi.
* MIDI CC Sequencers: 16 simultaneous MIDI continuous controller sequencers.
* RIFF Generators: 16 RIFF generators per multi.
These tools empower musicians to craft dynamic sequences and patterns, enriching their compositions and performances.

Conclusion
Kurzweil’s K20 Series, with the K2061 and K2088, represents a significant evolution in synthesizer technology, honoring the legacy of the K2000 while integrating modern advancements. These instruments are poised to inspire a new generation of musicians, offering a fusion of classic sounds and contemporary features that cater to both studio production and live performance.
